The 2001 La Crosse Blue Stars capped their competitive season tonight with a first-place finish at the DCI World Championships in Buffalo, NY. The Blue Stars, second-place finishers in the preliminary competition, overtook the Raiders for the title by a razor-thin 0.05 points, and capturing the percussion and marching performance captions. The final scores in Division III were:
